Apple crisp is a quick and easy dessert that everyone loves.  It’s really easy for kids to make.

Here is a picture of one that I made.IMG_7934Filling

10 cups or a large bowl of sliced pared tart apples

1/2 – 3/4 cup of sugar

1/3 cup of all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

a pinch of salt

Instructions

Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Mix apples, sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt (use spatula or spoon, don’t use an electric mixer) then set aside.

Topping

1 1/2 cups flour

1 1/2 cups oats

6 tablespoons butter

4 tablespoons oil

1 1/2 cups brown sugar

1 1/2 cups chopped nuts (optional)

Mix until crumbly.  Pour filling into a 9 by 13 inch pan and spread topping overtop of the filling.  Bake in oven for 30 minutes.
