First Recipe – Delicious Yellow Cake

Hello everyone!  Today I am going to teach you how to make The Delicious Yellow Cake.  This recipe is one of my personal favourite recipes.

Eva’s Delicious Yellow Cake


2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 1/3 cups sugar

3 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup shortening

1 cup low-fat (1%) milk

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 eggs



Mix the dry ingredients in the bowl of mixer.  Add shortening, milk and vanilla.  Turn to low and mix for about 1 minute.  Stop and scrape the sides of the bowl with spatula.  Add eggs.  Continuing on low, mixing for about 30 seconds.  Stop and scrape bowl.  Increase speed to medium and beat for about 1 minute.

Pour batter into 2 greased and floured 8-inch or 9-inch round baking pans.  Bake at 350F for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into centre comes out clean.  Cool for 10 minutes.  Remove from pans.  Cool completely on wire rack.  Frost, if you want to.



-Have a parent with you when you are baking.

-Be very careful when putting things in and taking things out of the oven.

-Follow the recipe very carefully.

-Make sure to use the exact amount of ingredients.

-Grease the pan with butter or spray it with Pam (Pam is a spray-on grease).

-Flour the pan after greasing it by putting a handful of flour in the pan and shake it to get it everywhere, even on the sides.

-This is the grease stuff that I used, but you can use butter, shortening or lard instead.
